Julio de 2026
Nota: este mes he sido mucho menos metódico a la hora de recopilar los fragmentos, así que la selección de julio es algo más reducida. He decidido incluir en el idioma original los fragmentos que leí en otros idiomas.
“Travel won’t make a better or saner man of you. For this we must spend time in study and in the writings of wise men, to learn the truths that have emerged from their researches, and carry on the search ourselves for the answers that have not yet been discovered. This is the way to liberate the spirit that still needs to be rescued from its miserable state of slavery. […] Does it surprise you that running away doesn’t do you any good? The things you’re running away from are with you all the time. What you must do, then, is mend your ways and get rid of the burden you’re carrying. Keep your cravings within safe limits. Scour every trace of evil from your personality. If you want to enjoy your travel. You must make your travelling companion a healthy one.”
Seneca, “Letters From A Stoic”
“It costs a person an enormous amount of time (and other people’s ears an enormous amount of boredom) before he earns such compliments as ‘What a learned person!’ Let’s be content with the much less fashionable label, ‘What a good man?’”
Seneca, ibidem
“The simplest means of procuring protection from other men (which is gained to a certain extent by deterrent force) is the security of quiet solitude and withdrawal from the mass of people”
Epicurus, “The Art of Happiness”
